Gambier, Ohio - The DePauw men's soccer team opened North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 road loss to Kenyon on Saturday, October 3. DePauw's overall record dropped to 8-2 and 0-1 in conference. Kenyon improved to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in NCAC play.
The Tigers were down a player for most of the match after Matthew Fogo was given a red card in the fifth minute. The Owls capitalized, taking an early 1-0 lead in the fifteenth minute off a goal from Lucas de Alarcon. Kenyon's Luca Bilotto added to the scoring with a goal in the 34th minute.
DePauw's Sami Ahmed fired off a shot in the 41st- minute but missed high and right, leaving the Tigers trailing 2-0 at halftime.
The Owls tacked on a third goal in the 86th minute.
Kenyon held the advantage in shots (15-3) and corners (9-1). In goal for DePauw, Sam Ortner recorded one save, while Kenyon's goalkeeper, Matt Kayser, notched one save as well.
Julian Bell recorded a shot on goal for the Tigers. Bell and Ryu Jungwoo both received yellow cards during the match.
The Tigers take the pitch again on Saturday, October 10th for an NCAC matchup against John Carroll at home at 2:30 p.m.
