Springfield, Ohio - DePauw held Wittenberg scoreless over the opening 8:50 and never trailed on the way to a 51-32 North Coast Athletic Conference win. The visiting Tigers improved to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC, while the hosts dropped to 8-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The teams were scoreless through the game's first four minutes before DePauw scored six straight. Wittenberg's first points came with 1:10 left in the first and DePauw took an 8-2 lead into the second quarter.
DePauw held a 19-14 halftime lead and opened the third with back-to-back 3-pointers from
Tori Allen and
Lily Huntzinger before
Olivia Hart's bucket made it 27-14. Wittenberg countered with five straight, but the guests scored the next seven to extend the lead to 34-19 with 3:01 left in the third. The Tigers largest lead of the quarter came at 41-24 after
Campbell Schrank's three near the end of the third. Wittenberg was no closer than 14 in the final stanza.
Allen led the Tigers with 11 points with
Riley Mont grabbing nine rebounds and recording six steals. Hart and Mont each handed out two assists.
Karsen Karlblom led Wittenberg with 13 points and seven rebounds with Molly Mossing adding 12 points and Karley Moore totaling two assists.
DePauw shot 37.3 percent from the field to Wittenberg's 24.5 percent. Each team finished with 25 rebounds with DePauw committing 12 turnovers to Wittenberg's 20 for a 20-3 advantage in points off of turnovers.
The win marked the 750th for head coach
Kris Huffman who is in her 33rd season as DePauw's head coach.
