Tigers Pick Up NCAC Road Win

Oberlin, Ohio - DePauw scored 13 straight late in the third quarter and held on for a 69-63 North Coast Athletic Confernce win at Oberlin. The Tigers improved to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC, while the Yeowomen dropped to 5-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Oberlin scored the final four points of the opening period and the first five of the second in building a 20-14 lead. DePauw countered with an 8-0 run to retake the lead before the teams went to the halftime break tied, 26-26.

The Yeowomen held a 37-33 advantage midway through the third before DePauw scored the next 13 to grab a 46-37 lead in the final minute of the period. Oberlin hit a bucket before Lily Huntzinger closed the third with a buzzer-beating jumper on the baseline to make it 48-39.

The Tigers still led, 59-51, with under five minutes remaining in the game, but Oberlin scored six straight to close to within two with two minutes left. That was as close as the Yeowomen got as DePauw made all eight free throws in the closing minute.

Olivia Hart led DePauw with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Riley Mont added 16 and a team-high four assists. Campbell Schrank scored 13 points and totaled four steals.

Angela Kumler paced Oberlin with 27 points, while Gabby Peña-Hilzen added 15 and Krystal Montas scored 11 with seven assists. Kumler and Montas each grabbed eight rebounds. 

DePauw shot 41.7 percent from the field and hit 15-of-19 from the line, while Oberlin connected on 43.5 percent from the floor. DePauw held a 41-34 rebounding edge.

The Tigers travel to Wittenberg on Jan. 14 for a 5:30 p.m. game.
