Tigers Shut Down Grizzlies 6-0

Greencastle, IN - DePauw Men's Soccer showed up for their home opener with offensive prowl, earning a 6-0 win over Franklin Wednesday night at Reavis.

Joey Black claimed the first home goal of the season when the Tigers dribbled a corner kick into center midfield with Sebastian Loan driving in a long ball to Black within the penalty box for a clean header into the net.

Not even two minutes later the Tigers put an insurance goal onto the board when the Grizzlies launched a goal kick into the midfield territory with Black answering with a header sending the ball deep in scoring territory. Roman Girandola dribbled closer to the net before taking a shot into the far side of the net, evading the goalie with a sharp left kick.

The Tigers displayed a strong offensive front, stretching out defender to gain footing to execute their third goal of the night with Tye Williams capitalizing on a header on the edge of the penalty box to drive the ball closer to the net for Julian Bell to launch into the net.

With the sunsetting and halftime looming, DePauw added their final goal of the first half to the scoreboard. Logan Hartsell sent a ball deep into scoring territory from midfield where Vance Borozinski was ready to chip it into the net with his left foot.

Leading 4-0, the Tigers slowed down their attack only scoring two in the second half. The Tigers dribbled into offensive territory before sending the ball across the net to Girandola who knocked the ball to Sami Ahmed so had a clean shot into the net, executing swiftly to keep the goalkeeper scrambling.

To cap off the night's activity AJ Hockstok delivered a corner kick to the goal area for Sam Elliott to drive into the goal with another header for the team's sixth goal of the night.

DePauw returns to the pitch tomorrow Saturday, September 6 against Adrian at 4:00 p.m.
