Tigers Lose Hard Fought Lead Against Knights in Last 10-Minutes

Grand Rapids, Mi. - DePauw fell 3-1 to Calvin in a hard fought loss on the road in Grand Rapids, Saturday evening.

The Tigers struck first, 34-minutes into the game Roman Girandola scored his third goal of the season. Jungwoo Ryu drove a free kick deep into the penalty box, aiming for a header to deliver the goal but the defenders pushed back delivering the ball to Girandola. Roman pressed forward, tripping over a defender and finding an opening to deliver the ball into the far left corner of the net.

Leading 1-0 at halftime, missed some chances in the middle of the second half to put the game away with Tye Williams and Harrison Engel leading the Tigers on the charge.

The Knights tied up the game in the 81st-minute with a corner kick header into the top of the goal.

Less than five minutes later, Calvin picked up the offensive onslaught drilling their second goal into the far right corner of the net, beyond Sam Ortner's reach.

With less than a minute in regulation, the Tigers performed a free kick and sent everyone into the box to keep the Knights from scoring but were unfortunately caught out.

The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, October 4th for Old Gold weekend when they host Wooster for their NCAC opener at 2:30 p.m. on Reavis.
