Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw came out racing and defeated Trine 4-2 with three goals in the first twenty minutes of play. The Tigers continue their winning streak to move to 5-1-2 and the Thunder fall to 1-7-1.
Sophomore Harrison Engle netted the first goal in the 2nd-minute on a header assisted by junior A.J. Hockstok. Hockstok wasn't finished yet and added another goal from outside the box in the 13th-minute off a short corner assist from sophomore Aidan Whitley. Trine quickly responded with a goal by Ben Borak off of a high press in the 16th-minute before conceding another DePauw goal in the 19th-minute placed in the top-left corner by Julian Bell off a line-breaking pass from Braden Murphy. DePauw would net one more before the half at the 31st-minute on a low driven shot from Alek Habeker. Trine would cut the DePauw lead to 2 in the 77th-minute off a goal.
DePauw dominated the stat sheet outshooting Trine 14-4 with a difference of 7-2 in shots on goal. DePauw also led the Thunder in corners 6-4. Trine led the save department with three to DePauw's zero.
Julian Bell, Sebastian Leon, and Logan Pierce led the Tigers' offense with two shots each.
The Tigers' next game is Saturday, September, 27th in Grand Rapids, MI against Calvin. DePauw will be back at home Saturday October, 4th as they open conference play against the Wooster Fighting Scots.
