Wheaton, Ill. – Sebastian Leon and
Joey Black each found the back of the net Saturday night, recording DePauw's first tie of the season after earning the comeback draw with Chapman at Wheaton College.
Chapman started the rally with a penalty kick goal in the 24th minute of play, finding success on the team's sixth shot of the night. The Tigers counteracted with their own penalty kick goal int he 43rd minute, shot by
Sebastian Leon.
The Panthers doubled their score with three minutes left in regulation. Chapman fought off a defender on the right side of the pitch before passing it off for a clean shot into the bottom right corner of the net.
In a flurry of action,
Joey Black knotted the score 2-2 with 18 seconds left in regulation.
Tye Williams shot just outside of the 18 yard box and was blocked by GK.
Julian Bell headed the rebound off the keeper and it hit the crossbar. Black swooped in for the following rebound and headed it into the top right corner of the net, tying up the game 2-2.
The Tigers had a 17-13 shooting edge over the Panthers and an 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Samt Ortner made three saves in goal for the Tigers, while the Panthers' Alex Glynn recorded six saves.
Following the Tigers draw with Chapman, DePauw heads home to Greencastle for their first home game of the season when they host Franklin, Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:30 pm.
