Greenville, Ill.- The DePauw Men's Soccer team opened the 2025 season at Wheaton College, with a hard fought 3-0 loss to #20 Colorado College.
The first half was tough defensively, as Coloado struck 11 minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper Sam Ortner made his presence felt early, making two first-half saves to keep DePauw within striking distance. DePauw made three shots in the first, but fell short of recording a goal before halftime.
Three minutes into the second, Colorado capitalized on a misfired defensive rebound to find the back of the Tigers' net and earn their second goal of the night. With a 2-0 lead, the Colorado Tigers maintained momentum throughout the game scoring another insurance goal in the 84th minute.
Offensively, Sebastian Leon led the attack with two shots, while DePauw battled to create chances against a relentless Colorado offense.
In the end, DePauw's effort and grit were evident, but Colorado's pressure proved too much.
DePauw returns to the pitch tomorrow Saturday, August 29 against Chapman at 4:30 pm CT.
