Tigers Snap Owls’ Historic Win Streak

Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers made history in their conference opener, securing a 13-10 victory over Kenyon. DePauw snapped the Owls' 12-game win streak against them, earning the program's first-ever win over Kenyon.

Caleigh Claar, Bridget Driscoll, and Kate Leone each scored hat tricks, accounting for nine of the Tigers' goals. Leone set the tone for the Tigers tallying a team-high of six points (3 goals, 3 assists). Bridget Driscoll led the Tigers defensively with four caused turnovers.

Emerson Perea put the Tigers on the board eight minutes into the game with an unassisted goal. The team exchanged goals to score in the first until Leone found the back of the net to score the go ahead goal. Bridget Driscoll scored her first goal of the day unassisted while her team was a player down due to a yellow card.

The Tigers began the third period with a 6-4 advantage, before scoring three straight goals to advance the score to 9-4. Leone further stretched the lead to 10-5 with an underhand goal off a free position shot. The Owls answered with two goals in two-minutes to shorten the lead, 10-7, towards the end of the third.

The Owls struggled to contain the three-goal lead in the fourth period as Mary Mason and Claar recorded two goals to maintain the lead. Claar put the game out of reach with a man-up goal with 2:34 remaining in regulation.

Lily Mason led the Owls with four goals and shared the team lead with two draw controls.  Ashley Auerbach paced the squad with three ground balls.

DePauw's Niamh Callahan totaled nine saves to earn her first conference win of the season.

The Tigers tied their game high record of 27 ground balls set against Rhodes earlier this season.

DePauw outshot Kenyon, 39-25, and held a 27-14 edge in ground balls. The Owls led with saves, 12-9.

The Tigers will see action next when they host Wittenberg on Tuesday, April 8, at 7 p.m.
