Wooster, Ohio - DePauw set the tone Saturday morning leading against the Fighting Scots in the first half, but Wooster picked up the pace in the second half to push the game to overtime. In a three-minute sudden death overtime period, Wooster's Kenzie Morris found a clear lane in the upper right corner of the net to make the game winning shot for the Scots.
Bridget Driscoll opened the scoring for the Tigers less than two minutes into the game, collecting the ball from Caleigh Claar and firing from the back of the arc.
NCAC Player of the Week, Kate Leone, tallied five points for the Tigers (4 goals, 1 assist). The sophomore took advantage of a green card on Wooster's game winner, Morris, to record a hat-trick early in the second period. Leone tallied three in a row to even the score 4-4 and tack on two extra goals to lengthen the lead for DePauw.
Driscoll recorded another hat trick, spreading out three goals throughout the game to help the Tigers maintain a lead. DePauw struggled to maintain a lead with the Scots tying the score eight times throughout the game.
The Tigers entered halftime with a 7-5 lead over the Scots, but Wooster returned on an offensive high, netting three-goals in three-minutes to take the lead for the first time in the game, 8-7. Leone and Driscoll answered with two free position goals to switch the lead before hitting the fourth period.
Rosalie Tasker ignited a sense of urgency in the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal, extending the Tigers lead, 10-8. Wooster responded with a pair of goals, to even the score with five-minutes remaining in regulation. Driscoll weaved through defenders and scored the Tigers final goal of the game at close range off an assist from Kate Sullivan. The Tigers lead did not last long with the Scots responding 28-seconds later tying the score, 11-11, pushing the game into overtime.
The Scots came out on top in the end with an unassisted goal to raise their record to 13-1 and 3-0 in conference. The Tigers were handed their first conference loss of the season making their record 6-6 and 2-1.
Niamh Callahan recorded 15 saves in goal for DePauw, while Audrey Richardson had four for Wooster.
Sullivan led DePauw with seven draw controls. Driscoll caused a team-high of four turnovers.
Lizzie Hardy and Kenzie Morris paced Wooster with six draw controls.
Wooster held a 29-27 edge in shots including 27-15 in shots on goal. The Scots led in ground balls, 19-14, and a 14-13 advantage in draw controls.
The Tigers will return to action on Wednesday, April 16, when they travel to Denison to take on the Big Red at 6 p.m.
