Wooster, Ohio - DePauw improved to 12-10 overall and 4-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference following a doubleheader sweep at Wooster by scores of 9-5 and 6-0. The Fighting Scots dropped to 7-17 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
In the opener, Wooster jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Cate Barkdoll doubled home Jillian Meszaros.
Alex Romero-Salas delivered an RBI single in the DePauw third which brought home
Mia Speidel and evened the score at 1-1. The Tigers added five in the fifth with
Katie Mathies,
Paige Brady and
Riley Heim hitting RBI doubles before
Madi Lockridge singled home Heim and Lockridge later scored from third on a steal.
Wooster countered with a four-run sixth as Meszaros scored on a throwing error as Emma Hetkey stole second. Julia Jennings singled home Hetkey before Barkdoll hit a two-run homer to trim the DePauw lead to 6-5.
Lockridge drove in Brady and Heim with a single in the seventh and
Hanna Coffel wrapped up the scoring with a double that brought home Lockridge.
Brady had three of DePauw's 16 hits with Mathies, Heim, Lockridge, Coffel and Speidel each adding two.
Barkdoll had two of Wooster's four hits.
Riley Depa improved to 7-4, while
Izzy Deveau recorded her first save.Â
In the nightcap, Brady and
Kendall Hynes each had RBI singles to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Ella Kunester expanded the lead with a solo homer in the second.
Eliza Rammel and Hynes hit run-scoring doubles in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, while Lockridge scored on a steal in the sixth.
Heim and Hynes ech had two of DePauw's 11 hits, while three different Fighting Scots collected one hit each.
Deveaux improved to 2-2 with a three-hit, complete game shutout, while Tori Connor dropped to 4-8.
DePauw travels to Ohio Wesleyan tomorrow for a 1 p.m. NCAC doubleheader. Meszaros dropped to 3-9.
