Delaware, Ohio - DePauw extended its win streak to six after sweeping Ohio Wesleyan by scores of 4-1 and 9-2. The Tigers improved to 14-10 overall and 6-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while the Battling Bishops dropped to 7-19 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
In the opener, DePauw grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first as
Katie Mathies drove in
Kelsey Schneider with a double and then scored on
Alex Romero-Salas' single.
Riley Heim and Mathies delivered second-inning RBI singles to push the lead to 4-0.
Ohio Wesleyan's lone run came in the fifth as Alyssa Back singled, scoring Lexi Stratton.
Schneider had three of DePauw's nine hits, while Mathies added two. Caity Jouney totaled two of the Battling Bishops' six hits.
Romero-Salas improved to 4-2 and struck out six with no walks in the complete game win. Kaelyn Rodriguez dropped to 3-5.
In the nightcap, DePauw again scored a pair in the opening inning as Heim's double brought home
Macey Cox before Heim scored on
Kendall Hynes' sacrifice fly.
Avery Panozzo's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first scored Alyssa Black to cut the DePauw lead to 2-1.
Mathies' double in the third brought home Heim and Mathies later scored when
Ella Kuenster was in a rundown between first and second. DePauw added four more in the fifth as Kuenster's single plated Cox and Heim before Romero-Salas and
Evy Krueger each drove in one with singles to make it 8-1.
Ohio Wesleyan's Chameron Vanden Eynden singled home Kimberlee Ferrell in the fifth before Hynes wrapped up the DePauw scoring in the sixth with a ground out that allowed Heim to cross the plate.
Kuenster had three of DePauw's 12 hits with Cox, Heim and Mathies each adding two. Vanden Eynden and Journey each had two of the Battling Bishops' eight hits.
Riley Depa improved to 8-4 with Rodriguez dropping to 3-6.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, April 16, with a 1 p.m. NCAC doubleheader at Kenyon.
