Decatur, Ill. - DePauw improved to 5-3 after defeating Millikin, 3-2, and topping Hanover, 13-11, at the Millikin Tournament.
In the Millikin game, the Big Blue scored one in the second as Anna Enlow scored when Abby Willis reached on a fielder's choice.Â
DePauw responded in the fourth when
Madi Lockridge drove in
Angelese Cruz with a triple and scored on
Libby Minobe's single.
Millikin evened the score in the fifth as Charley Condill scored when Kailyn Coates reached on a fielder's choice.
In the bottom of the seventh, Lockrdge led off with a double and moved to third on Minobe's sacrifice bunt. Pinch-hitter
Lauren Sizemore drew a two-out walk before pinch-hitter
Riley Heim delivered a walk-off single.
Lockridge and
Macey Cox each had two of DePauw's eight hits. Condill had three of Millikin's 10 hits, while Coates and Kendallyn Davison each had two.
Riley Depa improved to 3-2, while Emily Reagan dropped to 0-2. The Big Blue dropped to 2-3 with the loss.
Katie Mathies got DePauw off to a fast start against Hanover with a two-run homer in the first, but the Panthers matched that with a pair in the bottom of the frame.
The Tigers scored six in the second with
Paige Brady driving in the first with a single and Cox scoring two after reaching on a fielder's choice. Heim followed with a double that plated three and made it 8-2.
Brady's RBI double in the third and
Ella Kuenster's two-run single in the inning pushed the Tigers' lead to 11-2.
Hanover countered with one in the third but Brady's fourth-inning single scored
Evy Krueger and expanded the lead to 12-3.
The Panthers mounted a comeback with six in the fourth.before Brady's single in the sixth plated
Mia Speidel for a 13-9 DePauw lead. Hanover's final runs came in the sixth with a pair of bases loaded walks.
Brady collected four of DePauw's 16 hits, while Kuenster and Speidel each had three and Cox added two.Â
Ashley Fulton had three of Hanover's nine hits and LauRie Harmless had two.
Izzy Deveau improved to 1-1, while Depa picked up her first save. Lauren Beaman dropped to 0-1. Hanover dropped to 2-4 with the loss.
The Tigers play Wisconsin-Stevens Point tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. CDT and Hanover at 5:30 p.m. CDT.
