Bloomington, Ill. - DePauw opened play at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament with a pair of losses as the Tigers fell to Lake Forest, 9-7, and then dropped a 6-1 contest to the host Titans. The Tigers are now 8-8 on the season.
Lake Forest jumped out to a 7-0 lead with three in the first and two each in the second and third innings, but DePauw responded with a seven-run fourth inning which was capped by
Riley Heim's two-run homer.Â
Emmie Nyen's two-run homer in the sixth gave the Foresters the lead for good.
Macey Cox and
Madi Lockridge each had two of DePauw's 11 hits as nine different Tigers collected at least one hit.Â
Kaia Mismash and Nyen each had three of Lake Forest's 11 hits.
Izzy Deveau dropped to 1-2, while Riley Stiles improved to 5-0.
In the Illinois Wesleyan game, the Titans scored two in the first before DePauw cut the deficit in half on
Paige Brady's solo homer. The hosts sealed the win with two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings.
Brady had two of DePauw's four hits wit Anna Beckman finishing with two of Illinois Wesleyan's 10 hits.
Alex Romero-Salas dropped to 2-1 and Maddie Pool improved to 2-1 with Mallory Holland collecting her second save.
