Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw and Wittenberg opened North Coast Athletic Conference play on a damp day at Walker Field and the visiting Tigers came away with a sweep by scores of 5-2 and 22-2. DePauw dropped to 6-14, while Wittenberg improved to 15-5.
In the opener, Wittenberg jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on Xander Rodriguez's two-run single before DePauw countered in the bottom of the second as
Aidan Howard drove in two with a double.
Rocco Royer's solo homer in the fifth gave Wittenberg the lead again and Rodriguez drove in one more in the inning with a sacrifice fly. Alex Nemunaitis drove in Rodriguez with an eighth-inning single to seal the victory.
Bryson Dorsey had two of DePauw's seven hits, while Nemunaitis had three of Wittenberg's eight hits and Rodriguez added two.
Pearse Riendeau dropped to 2-3 with the loss, while Nate Floyd improved to 3-0.

Wittenberg, however, sent 13 batters to the plate in the third and scored 10 runs with Gryskevich homering twice in the inning and Royer once. The guests added four more in the fourth and five in the fifth as Royer wrapped up the scoring with a three-run homer.
Four different DePauw players collected one hit apiece. while Rodriguez, Royer and Gryskevich each had four of Wittenberg's 20.
Charlie Hawk dropped to 0-3, while Andrew Rust improved to 4-0.
The Tigers travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 1, for a Noon NCAC doubleheader.
