Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening period and never trailed on the way to a 19-6 win over Otterbein. The Tigers improved to 2-2 with their second straight win, while the Cardinals dropped to 1-2.
Bridget Driscoll got the Tigers on the board just 46 seconds into the contest before
Rosalie Tasker followed with three straight goals to make it 4-0. Otterbein's Alyssa Glenn scored three straight to cut the DePauw lead to 4-3, but the Tigers closed the period with a pair of goals from Driscoll sandwiching a Tasker score to extend the lead to 7-3.
Tasker made it 8-3 in the opening five minutes of the second before Otterbein's Emily Williams stopped the run with 8:34 left in the half. Tasker delivered one more with six seconds remaining in the half to give the Tigers a 9-4 advantage.
DePauw then outscored the Cardinals 10-2 in the second half to seal the victory.
Tasker led the Tigers with seven goals, while Driscoll had three along with a team-high four assists. Glenn led Otterbein with five goals and Ava Robey assisted on two.
Niamh Callahan recorded four saves in goal for DePauw with Maggie Nance finishing with three stops in the first three periods.
Driscoll led the Tigers with six draw controls with
Kai Coffee registering three ground balls.
Kate Sullivan caused two turnovers in the win.
Robey and Reese Cromwell each had four draw controls with Nance totaling six ground balls and Glenn causing three turnovers.
DePauw outshot Otterbein, 38-12, while Otterbein led in ground balls, 14-11. Otterbein committed 21 turnovers to DePauw's 15 with the Tigers holding a 17-11 edge in draw controls.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, March 8, when it hosts Transylvania at 2:30 p.m.
