Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw battled back from an early deficit to even the score against 19th-ranked Colorado College but the Tigers fell by a 13-9 score. DePauw's three-game win streak came to an end as it dropped to 3-3, while Colorado College improved to 5-1.
Colorado College scored three goals in the opening four minutes before DePauw's
Emerson Perea stopped the run with a score at the 6:23 mark of the first on
Kate Sullivan's assist.
Charlotte Iller's third goal of the period came with 4:46 left and expanded Colorado College's lead to 4-1.
DePauw gained momentum in the second period as
Bridget Driscoll scored a pair with the first assisted by
Kate Leone before
Mary Mason evened the score at 4-4 with 5:36 left in the half.
Riley Sterling put Colorado College ahead, 6-4, with a pair of goals in the final 3:35 of the half.
Colorado College outscored the Tigers, 3-2, in the third with DePauw's goals coming from Mason and Perea. DePauw closed the gap back to two as
Bridget Driscoll scored form
Kate Sullivan's assist with 13:44 left in the contest, but Colorado College answered just 18 seconds later.
Leone scored with an assist from Mason with 9:15 remaining to cut the Colorado College lead to 10-8, but they countered with three scores to extend the lead to 13-8. Driscoll wrapped up the scoring with 1:16 left on
Rosalie Tasker's assist.
Driscoll led DePauw with four goals, while Perea and Mason had two each. Sullivan had two assists for the Tigers.
Kai Coffee led DePauw with three ground balls with Driscoll and Mason each causing three turnovers.
Iler led Colorado College with three goals with Peyton Murphy, Robin Lonergan and Sterling each adding two. Murphy had a team-high four assists with Lonergan totaling three. Meghan Cllins and Sofia Mancino each had five draw controls with Frances Hansot recording three ground balls and Evelyn Baher-Murphy causing three turnovers.
Niamh Callahan recorded 17 saves for DePauw, while Cassidy Schnaufer finished with four for Colorado College.
Colorado College held a 44-21 edge in shots and 14-10 in ground balls and won 23 of the 26 draws.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, March 19, with a 4 p.m. CDT game at Rhodes.
