Sewanee, Tenn. - DePauw allowed Sewanee just two hits, but the hosts scored single runs in three different innings in a 3-0 win over the visiting Tigers. DePauw dropped to 1-2, while Sewanee improved to 8-0.
Sewanee grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first as Sebastian Leinberger led off by being hit by a pitch and moved to second when Blake Pou drew a walk. Charlie Teel's sacrifice bunt advanced the runners and Leinberger scored on a wild pitch.
Leinberger singled with one out in the third before Pou was hit by a pitch and Teel walked. Another wild pitch plated Leinberger.
Pinch-hitter Jonah Patton walked with one out in the Sewanee fifth and moved to second on Pou's ground out. Teel's single scored Patton and extended Sewanee's lead to 3-0.
Bryson Dorsey and
Tyler Walkey each had two of DePauw's six hits. Leinberger and Teel each had singles for the hosts.
Pearse Riendeau dropped to 1-1 after hurling five innings and allowing three runs on two hits with five strikeouts and four walks.
Finn O'Meara tossed three innings without allowing a hit while striking out five and walking one.
Matt Munn improved to 2-0 with seven innings of scoreless pitching while allowing just four hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Henry Collins collected his first save with two innings of scoreless relief.
The teams square off in an 11 a.m. CST doubleheader tomorrow.
