Delaware, Ohio - DePauw jumped out to an early seven-point lead, but Ohio Wesleyan scored eight straight in a run that bridged the first and second periods to take the lead for good on the way to a 71-57 North Coast Athletic Conference win.
The Tigers dropped to 17-6 overall and 11-2 in the NCAC, while the Battling Bishops improved to 22-2 overall and 13-0 in conference play. With the win, Ohio Wesleyan clinched the NCAC regular season title and snapped DePauw's streak of seven straight outright or shared NCAC titles.
DePauw took a 12-5 lead, but the hosts battled back with seven straight to even the score. The Tigers still held a 17-16 lead after
Lily Huntzinger's 3-pointer with 1:37 left in the first, but Ohio Wesleyan scored the final five of the first and Elizabeth Homan's three in the opening minute of the second period gave the hosts a 24-17 lead. The Battling Bishops took a 42-29 advantage into the halftime.
Ohio Wesleyan built a 22-point lead at 56-34 and the Tigers got no closer than 11 the rest of the way.
Riley Mont led the Tigers with 18 points with
Moira McGinley chipping in 10.
Ainsley Boras grabbed eight rebounds, while McGinley and Mont each dished out three assists.
Kasey Schipfer led Ohio Wesleyan with 18 points with Elizabeth Homan following with 13 points, nine assists and three steals. Karlee Ross followed with 12 points and Macy Miller added 10 points and 12 rebounds.
DePauw shot 38.5 percent from the floor to Ohio Wesleyan's 45.2 percent and the Battling Bishops held a 39-33 rebounding edge and committed 12 turnovers to DePauw's 17.
The Tigers host Wooster on Saturday, Feb.22, at 3 p.m.
