Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw jumped out to a double-digit lead in the opening six minutes of its North Coast Athletic Conference game against visiting Kenyon on the way to an 84-62 victory. The Tigers improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC, while the Owls dropped to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
After the Tigers built the early lead, Kenyon closed to within five at 28-23 before DePauw scored six straight to start a 25-5 run which expanded the lead to 53-28. The Tigers held a 55-30 lead at the halftime intermission.
The Owls got as close as 19 in the second half before DePauw stretched the lead to as many as 30 points.
Brady Kunka paced DePauw with 13 points, while
Reph Stevenson and
Sam Jacobs each scored 12 and
Eli Ellis added 10.
Marius Mazeika paced Kenyon with 16 points and five rebounds with Nick Nelson chipping in 12 points.
DePauw shot 47.9 percent from the floor including 53.7 percent in the first half to Kenyon's 41.0 percent for the game. The Tigers outrebounded the Owls, 54-24.
The Tigers host Wooster on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m.
