Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw used a 21-4 first-half run to overcome an eight-point deficit and it never trailed the rest of the way in a 77-65 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wooster. The Tigers improved to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the NCAC, while the Fighting Scots dropped to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Brady Kunka hit a three in the opening minute, but Wooster scored nine straight to grab a 9-3 advantage. The Tigers regained the lead at 12-10 before the Fighting Scots used an 11-2 stretch midway through the half to take a 26-18 lead with 8:51 remaining. In a span of less than three minutes, DePauw regained the lead at 28-26 with 10 straight points capped by
Sam Jacobs' 3-pointer with 5:40 left in the half.
Wooster briefly tied the contest before DePauw scored nine consecutive to take a 37-28 lead on the way to a 39-32 halftime advantage.
Joe Smith's three early in the second half pushed the margin to double digits, but Wooster trimmed it back to four at the 16:42 mark.
Eli Ellis' three with 13:15 remaining extended the lead to 10 at 52-42. Jaden Cox-Holloway hit two free throws and Quincy Jones' layup on a break closed the gap to 52-46, but that's as close as the Fighting Scots got the rest of the way.Â
Wooster was within seven at 67-60 with 2:47 left after Cox-Hollway's bucket, but Smith hit two free throws before
Billy Bach and Smith added scores to push the lead to 73-60 at the 2:02 mark.Â
Jacobs led DePauw with 17 points followed by Kunka and Smith with 15 each. Smith's 15 were a career high.
Reph Stevenson grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked a couple of shots with Smith totaling three assists.Â
Cox-Holloway and Jones each scored 13 for the Fighting Scots with Tommy Vaughn Jr. adding 11 and Isaac Roeder 10. Cox-Hollway hauled down 13 rebounds and handed out three assists.
DePauw shot 49.1 percent from the field to Wooster's 35.9 percent and the Tigers held a 47-31 rebounding edge. DePauw committed 17 turnovers to Wooster's six.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 17, when they host Illinois College at 6 p.m.
