Nashville, Tenn. - DePauw capped off a 3-0 week with a 72-37 win over Williams in its final game at the Music City Classic. The Tigers improved to 6-4 with their third straight win, while the Ephs dropped to 6-5.
DePauw scored the game's first five points, but Williams came back and took as much as a five-point lead at 17-12 on the way to a 17-15 advantage at the quarter break.
Williams extended the margin to five at 20-15 by scoring the first three points of the second quarter. They still led, 22-18, before the Tigers scored 11 straight to take the lead for good. DePauw took a 33-25 lead into the halftime intermission.
DePauw extended its lead to 43-25 by starting the second half with a 10-0 run. The Tigers scored the final four points of the third to take a 50-29 advantage.Â
DePauw put the game away with a 9-0 stretch to start the fourth which extended the lead to 30.
Riley Mont led DePauw with 14 points followed by
Tori Allen with 13 and
Olivia Hart with 12 along with 12 rebounds.Â
Amaya Chase-Luthra led Williams with 10 points, while Logan Coster hauled down four rebounds.Â
DePauw shot a season-best 51.7 percent from the field to Williams' 32.7 percent. The Tigers held a 44-20 rebounding edge which led to a 16-2 lead in second-chance points.
The Tigers return to action on Monday, Dec. 29, when it hosts Trine at 2 p.m. in the opening game of the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament.
