Greencastle, Ind. - In voting by the league's coaches, six DePauw student-athletes were selected to the all-North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Team.
Three Tigers were chosen to the first team including forward
Braden Murphey (Jr., South Bend, Ind./Penn), defender
Harrison Engel (So., St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) and goalkeeper
Sam Ortner (Jr., Wauwatosa, Wis./Wauwatosa East). Murphey was second on the team with five goals and 13 points and this was his first all-NCAC honor. Engel, a third team choice last year, helped a defense that allowed just 20 goals and recorded eight shutouts, while scoring four goals and assisting on two more. Ortner earned NCAC honors for the first time after posting a 1.09 goals against average with seven shutouts.
Midfielder
Jungwoo Ryu (So., Sammamish, Wash./Skyline) was the Tigers' lone second team selection and earned his first NCAC recognition after scoring a pair of goals and assisting on another.
Defenders Vance Borozinksi (Sr., Henderson, Nev./Coronado) and
Aidan Whitley (So., Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) garnered spots on the third team. Borozinski scored one and assisted on one this year, while Whitley totaled two assists. Each earned the honor for the first time and helped the Tigers allow just five goals in eight conference contests.
DePauw won the NCAC regular season title for the first time in program history and also captured the conference tournament championship with last Saturday's 3-1 win over Denison. The 12-2-5 Tigers open NCAA Division III Championship play on Saturday at 1 p.m. CST against Chicago.
