Springfield, Ohio - DePauw traveled to league-leading Wittenberg for a North Coast Athletic Conference match and the host Tigers wrapped up the regular season title with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-19) win over DePauw. DePauw dropped to 12-12 overall and 3-4 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg moved to 16-7 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
The teams battled through a tight first set before Wittenberg finished with a 3-1 run. Wittenberg scored the first eight points of the second set and never trailed to take a 2-0 match lead. DePauw got out to an 11-7 lead in the third set before the hosts scored nine straight. DePauw trimmed the deficit to 17-16 before Wittenberg scored the next four and closed the match on an 8-3 run.
Madeline Ozersky paced DePauw with 11 kills and two aces with
Julia McWaters totaling 17 assists.
Grace Myers led the defensive effort with 14 digs and
Jen Proeh finished with two blocks.
Kait Colahan and Clare O'Malley eac had nine kills for Wittenberg with Mary Sulfridge totaling 30 assists and five blocks. Piper Ricketts, Ally White and Ava Golen each had two aces.
Wittenberg outhit DePauw, .231-.175 and held a 39-36 edge in kills. Wittenberg led in aces, 8-5, and blocks, 9-3.
DePauw travels to Millikin on Saturday, Nov. 8, for matches against the host Big Blue and WashU.
