Tigers Roll to NCAC Win at Ohio Wesleyan

Delaware, Ohio - DePauw allowed a field goal on Ohio Wesleyan's opening drive, but then scored 33 straight on the way to a 40-10 North Coast Athletic Conference road win. The Tigers, ranked 14th in the coaches' poll and 15th by D3football.com, improved to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the NCAC, while the Battling Bishops dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

After DePauw's offense was stopped on a three-and-out on its opening series, Ohio Wesleyan put together a 12-play, 70-yard drive that culminated in Ryan Elliot's 22-yard field goal.

The Tigers responded with a 12-play, 75-yard series that was capped by Caden Whitehead 1-yard run. The point-after snap was mishandled and the Tigers held a 6-3 lead with 2:10 left in the first.

The Battling Bishops drove to the DePauw 32 on their next possession before the Tigers' defense forced a turnover on downs. The Tigers needed just six plays to reach paydirt with Scott Ballentine connecting with Lleyton Lukowski for a 21-yard score to make it 13-3 with 10:55 remaining in the half.

Whitehead's 2-yard run with 6:25 left in the half pushed the DePauw lead to 20-3. Elliot's 38-yard field goal try was blocked by Luke Nolan with 1:11 remaining in the half.

Ohio Wesleyan opened the second half by again driving to the DePauw 32 where DePauw's defense stopped them again on downs. The Tigers were forced to punt on their next possession, but on the second play of Ohio Wesleyan's following drive DePauw linebacker Toreeq Jimoh-Oyesigi intercepted Battling Bishops' quarterback CJ Jackson at the Ohio Wesleyan 29 and returned it 14 yards.

On the Tigers' first play of the next drive Scott Ballentine teamed with Robby Ballentine for a 15-yard score. The point-after attempt extended DePauw's lead to 27-3.

The Battling Bishops marched down the field on their next possession before Jackson Clopton picked off Jackson in the end zone.

Scott Ballentine's 4-yard pass to Lukowski capped a 10-play series and pushed DePauw's lead to 33-3 with 16 seconds left in the third.

Jackson 's 15-yard pass play to Josh Hurst early in the fourth cut DePauw's lead to 33-10, but Scott Ballentine's 12-yard scoring pass to Carson Johnson ended the scoring with 7:14 left. Ohio Wesleyan's final drive ended on downs at the DePauw 19.

Kaiden Bond rushed for a team-high 38 yards on three carries late in the game with Johnson adding 31 yards and Whitehead 28.

Scott Ballentine completed 25-of-34 passes for 331 yards with Robby Ballentine catching six for 111 yards and Palmer Samuels snagging six for 81 yards.

Jackson completed 25-of-46 passes for 373 yards and rushed for 71 yards on 15 carries. Reddik Pillarelli caught 11 for 158 yards followed by Austin Koslow with seven for 113.
