Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers walked away with a 3-1 win against Marian (Wis.) on Sunday afternoon raising their record to 7-3 (3-0).
DePauw opened the scoring in the 8th-minute when
Hailey Nowak chipped in a ball from
Maggie Volpe to give the Tigers' a lead early on in the first quarter.
The Tigers went into halftime with 1-0 lead over the Sabres, but Marians' defense retaliated with a goal in the 38th-minute off a penalty corner shot.
Tied 1-1, DePauw crowded the circle, where
Ella Mickey was able to pass the ball to
Rosie Ondrla for a back hook goal to tallied her second of the season.
With less than nine minutes on the clock,
Ellie Lochhead chipped the ball into the circle where Nowak fought to overcome the goalkeeper. Her first shot retaliated and she scooped under to give the ball enough air to overcome the Sabres' goalie. This goal tallied Nowak's 100th career point. Hailey leads the team with nine goals so far this season with four assists.
The Tigers will continue conference play on Saturday, October 11th when they host Denison at Reavis Stadium at 12 p.m.
