University Heights, Oh. - DePauw women's soccer battled hard but came up short in a 5-0 loss at John Carroll on Saturday morning.
The Tigers 6-4-1 (0-1) created several promising opportunities, finishing with 10 total shots and four on goal. Sara Jacobi and Sadie Gibson each put pressure on the Blue Streaks' goalkeeper, while Jayla Logan and KJ Ely also forced saves in the attacking third.
Despite the offensive push, DePauw faced an uphill climb after an own goal and two John Carroll tallies in the opening half. Goalkeepers Riley Cholewa and Elle Lewis combined for six saves to keep the Tigers within reach, while the back line weathered 14 shots from a balanced JCU attack.
DePauw also earned four corners and held nearly half the match's possession (47%), showing stretches of control in midfield play led by Jacobi, Macy Miller, and Emmy Streeter.
The Tigers will look to regroup quickly as they return to conference action next week, aiming to build on their record against Wittenberg on Wednesday, October 8th when they hit the road for a 7 p.m. start.
