Greencastle, Ind. - On Saturday, October 4th, the Tigers won a close game against the OWU Battling Bishops with an overtime goal to seal the game.
After a scoreless 60 minutes of play, in the 6th minute of overtime, senior, Haily Nowak, assisted freshman,
Hannah Zaiser, to score the lone goal of the game. Zaiser tallied her first career goal in the biggest game so far for the Tigers, handing OWU their first conference loss of the season.
The Tigers extended their winning streak, going undefeated in conference play and claiming the number one spot in the conference as of Saturday evening. Nowak was recently named the NCAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week on September 29th.Â
OWU had 16 shots over the course of the game, 2 in OT and 14 in regulation, while DePauw had 8, with 3 in OT and 5 in regulation.
Goal tending was strong for both teams, with DePauw freshman goalkeeper,
Tea Jerro, having 12 saves, 2 in OT and 10 in regulation, and OWU's goalkeeper Payton Mindel having 7 saves, 2 in
OT and 5 in regulation.
DePauw improves to 6-3 (3-0), while OWU falls to 4-5 (3-1). The Tigers move on to play Marian at home on tomorrow, Sunday, October 5th, at 1 p.m.
