Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Tigers Shutout the Fighting Scots 4-0 on the Road

Wooster, Oh. - Scoring a goal in each quarter, the DePauw field hockey team beat the College of Wooster 4-0 on the road. The Tigers improved to 4-4 for the season and 2-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play. The Fighting Scots improved to 1-5 on the season and 0-3 in NCAC competition.

In the 11th minute of the first quarter, DePauw's Hailey Nowak dribbled the ball into the Fighting Scot's half and shot from a couple of yards out to put the Tigers up 1-0. Nowak would tally her second goal after gathering a deflection in front of the cage and scoring off a backhanded shot to go up 2-0.

Nowak completed the hat trick in the 41st minute when Ella Morris pushed the ball toward Wooster's far post and deflected in by Nowak for goal number three. The fourth and final goal came in the final four seconds of the game when Tiala Ortega snuck the ball past her last defender and found the stick of Frances Seitz for Seitz's first goal of the 2024 season.

DePauw outshot Wooster 28-11 and held an 11-5 advantage over the Fighting Scots in penalty corners. All three Tiger goalies found time in the cage, with Olivia Streifel recording one save for the afternoon. The Fighting Scots Cate Barkdoll finished the afternoon with 11 saves.

The Tigers continue NCAC play with their next match at Oberlin College on September 29 at 12 p.m. EDT.
