Tigers Split Saturday Matches

Angola, Ind. - DePauw moved to 9-4 on the season after splitting its two matches at Trine. The host Thunder topped the Tigers 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-22) before DePauw came back with a 3-2 (24-26, 25-17, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12) win over Marian (Wis.).

Against Trine, Kaiden Harrington led DePauw with 11 kills with Kendall Herrick totaling 15 assists. Kerry O'Connor had one block and Grace Myers finished with 17 digs.

Madison Dominick paced Trine with 13 kills and Anna Zellers led with 22 assists. Catherine Dobie and Zellers each totaled three aces, while Emmaline Leatherman had three blocks and Kacie Van Kalker finished with 13 digs.

Trine outhit DePauw, .275-.160 and held a 38-32 edge in kills. The Thunder led in aces, 12-2, and blocks, 7-1.

After dropping the first set against Marian, the Tigers came back to take a 2-1 lead after winning the next two sets. Marian evened the match by winning the fourth set and then took a 3-0 lead in the fifth before the Tigers scored three straight. Marian held a 12-10 lead, but the Tigers wrapped up the win with five straight points capped by Harrington's kill.

Harrington led DePauw with 15 kills and Herrick had 19 assists. Herrick, Grace Myers and Julia McWaters each totaled three aces with O'Connor leading with six blocks. Herrick and Grace Myers each finished with 16 digs.

Harley Bartels paced Marian with 13 kills, while Kaylie Engebose had 40 assists. Ryanne Jasica served four aces with Bartels and Jasica each totaling two blocks and Alana McDermott recording 19 digs.

DePauw returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 26, with a 6:30 p.m. home match against Wilmington.
