Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw moved to 10-4 on the season following a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-20) win over Wilmington. The Quakers dropped to 4-10.
DePauw built an early lead in the opening set before Wilmington closed to within one at 16-15. The Tigers, however, scored six straight at the start of a 9-2 run to win the opening set. The Quakers grabbed the lead in the second set, but again the Tigers pulled away with a 9-3 stretch.Â
Wilmington jumped out to a 6-0 advantage in the third set and still led 14-8 before DePauw won eight of the next nine points for a 16-15 lead. The lead went back-and-forth before the Tigers scored four straight and six of the final seven for the match win.
DePauw outhit the Quakers, .312-.112 with
Kaiden Harrington leading the Tigers with 11 kills.
Kendall Herrick had 16 assists and
Julia McWaters 15.
Riley Kamer and
Grace Myers each had three of the Tigers' 10 aces. Myers led the defensive effort with 15 digs and
Ashley Haas had four blocks.
Kieran Yarkosky and Josie Crabtree each had nine kills for Wilmington with Andie Dolven totaling 22 assists. Dolven had three of the Quakers' five aces. Corissa Oeder led with 19 digs and Yarkosky finished with two blocks.
DePauw led in kills, 41-33 and 6-3 in blocks.
The Tigers open defense of their North Coast Athletic Conference title when they host Denison on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 1 p.m.
