Terre Haute, Ind. - After dropping the opening set at Rose-Hulman, DePauw came back for a 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-20) win over the Fightin' Engineers. DePauw improved to 8-3 with its fifth straight win, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 5-8.
The hosts came out strong by taking a 10-1 lead in the opening set. The Tigers closed to within three at 12-9 before Rose-Hulman pushed the lead to 24-15. The Tigers fought off seven match points before Jillian Gregg's kill ended the set.
A tight second set ensued before DePauw scored six straight to extend its lead to 21-12. Rose-Hulman was within seven points before DePauw scored three of the final four points to even the match at 1-1. The Tigers used a 6-0 stretch in the third set to take a 23-18 advantage on the way to taking a 2-1 lead. The final set went back-and-forth, but DePauw wrapped up the win by winning the final four points.
Kaiden Harrington paced DePauw with 17 kills with
Olivia Karwin assisting 27 times.
Belle Shelton had three of the Tigers' five aces, while Marina Cadilli had three of the Engineers' eight.
Karwin paced DePauwwith 25 digs, while
Grace Myers finished with 20.
Kerry O'Connor totaled eight blocks in the win.
Jillian Gregg finished with 14 kills for Rose-Hulman with Hannah Bergfeld leading with 20 assists. Lily Ebright had 30 digs and Amaya Harrell totaled three blocks.
DePauw outhit Rose-Hulman, .201-.098Â and led in kills, 58-43.
The Tigers travel to Trine on Saturday for a 1 p.m. march against the Thunder and a 3 p.m. contest against Marian (Wis.).
