DePauw Overcomes Early Deficit to Win at Franklin

Franklin, Ind. - Host Franklin jumped out to a 1-0 lead over DePauw, but the Tigers came back with a game-tying score in the first half and two more in the second for a 3-1 victory. The Tigers improved to 4-3-1, while the Grizzlies dropped to 1-4-2.

Franklin's Jaiden Baker's unassisted goal in the 15th minute put the hosts ahead before Emmy Streeter evened the score in the 35th minute with her first collegiate goal.

It took just 23 seconds of the second half for the Tigers to take the lead for good as Molly Heller also delivered her first collegiate goal. Sydney Calisto added an insurance tally in the 69th minute with an assist from Ellie Mahan.

Aubree Empie and Taylor Beard split time in goal for DePauw with Beard recording one save. Emma Watson stopped one DePauw shot while Makenna Mundy totaled six saves for the Grizzlies.

DePauw held an 18-3 edge in shots including 10-2 in shots on goal. The Tigers also led in corners, 10-0.

The Tigers travel to Wheaton on Saturday, Sept. 21, for a Noon CDT contest.

I chose DePauw for a number of different reasons. First, the University takes academics very seriously and wants their students to excel. I am looking to study in the field of chemistry and believe that DePauw's math and science programs are recognized for their high quality education. I also love the liberal arts style for a school, where I can explore other opportunities and expand my areas of interest. I was recruited by several Division I soccer programs, but decided to play at DePauw, because I really liked the coach and the team, and DePauw will provide me the opportunity to play soccer but also will allow me to enjoy the full college experience.
