Greencastle, Ind. - Top-ranked WashU set the tone early with two goals in the opening 3:47 and went on to take a 4-0 victory over DePauw at Reavis Stadium. DePauw dropped to 2-3-1, while the Bears moved to 5-0.
Meryl McKenna put the Bears on the board at 1:42 on Gaelen Clayton's assist before Kaci Karl made it 2-0 with an unassisted score just 2:05 later. An own goal at 16:00 pushed the lead to 3-0 and it stayed that way until Olivia Clemons wrapped up the scoring with an unassisted score at 83:46.
Taylor Beard and
Aubree Empie each totaled five saves for DePauw. Sidney Conner and Charlotte Shapiro finished with one save apiece for the Bears.
WashU held a 22-4 edge in shots including 13-2 in shots on goal.
DePauw hosts Rhodes on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m.
