Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw outhit Franklin, .405-.118 on the way to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-21) win over visiting Franklin. The Tigers improved to 4-3, while the Grizzlies dropped to 3-5.
The Tigers rattled off six straight points in the opening set to stretch a 13-12 lead to 19-12. The Grizzlies scored the next three, but DePauw finished with a 6-2 run. DePauw never trailed in the second set and finished the third with a 12-3 stretch to claim the win.
Kenzie Myers paced DePauw with 10 of its 42 kills, while
Olivia Karwin led with 18 assists.
Kendall Herrick recorded four aces and
Grace Myers had 11 digs.
Ashley Haas and
Kaiden Harrington each totaled two blocks.
Kaitlyn Lavy led Franklin with 10 of its 20 kills with Brionna Linkel assisting on 12. Hope Moring had a team-high three aces, while Lavy led with five digs and Trinity Schroeder finished with two blocks.
DePauw returns to action on Friday, Sept. 13, with matches against Buena Vista and Greenville at the Augustana College Viking Classic.
