Lynchburg, Va.- The DePauw Field Hockey team fell 3-0 to the No.13 University of Lynchburg Hornets in its 2024 season opener.
The Hornets held possession of the ball for most of the matchup, outshooting the Tigers 12-1 in the first half and capitalizing on one of its four penalty corner attempts to go up by one goal in the second quarter. Despite giving up two more goals in the second, DePauw did manage to slow Lynchburg's offensive onslaught in the third quarter but ran out of steam in the fourth quarter, where the Hornet's Danielle Coon and Olivia van Metre scored one goal apiece.

Bella Lauber recorded 11 saves, the second most in her Tiger career. The Hornet's goalkeeper, Shay Schoones, tallied one save for the afternoon.
The Tiger's next game is Sunday, September 1, in Winchester, Va., where DePauw will take on No.20 Shenandoah University at 12 p.m.
