Chicago, Ill.- The DePauw Men's Soccer team opened the 2024 season with a 0-0 tie in a tightly contested road game against North Park University.
From the first whistle, the Tigers forced most of the game to be played in their offensive half, outshooting the Vikings 6-3 and forcing three corners while giving up just one on their defensive end.
Though DePauw's offensive aggression forced three saves in the first half, neither team managed to find its footing in time to take the lead. In the second half, the teams were statistically neck-and-neck, with both recording three corners. The Tigers held an advantage in shots, putting up seven to the Vikings' six.
In goal for DePauw,
Sam Ortner tallied two goals, while North Park's Ludvig Almborg recorded five saves for the night.
The Tigers return to Greencastle, Ind., on Sunday, September 1, to host Berea College at Reavis Stadium for a 2:30 p.m. matchup against the Mountaineers.
