Wittenberg Rallies for NCAC Win over DePauw

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw held an 8-6 lead late in the third period, but visiting Wittenberg scored the game's final six goals for a 12-8 North Coast Athletic Conference win. DePauw dropped to 7-5 overall and 1-3 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg improved to 5-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

DePauw's Gavin Berry scored just 1:40 into the contest, but Wittenberg added three goals in a 2:52 stretch to take a 3-1 lead.

The Tigers regained the lead with four straight scores in the second, but the visitors capped the half with three consecutive scores to take a 6-5 lead.

DePauw put together a 3-0 run with the final score coming with 5:59 left to give the Tigers an 8-6 advantage, but that was DePauw's final score of the evening.

Wittenberg scored with 29 seconds remaining in the third and outscored DePauw, 5-0, in the final period.

Berry, Jack Neff and Henry White each scored two goals for DePauw, while Dillon McKeigue had four for Wittenberg and Kyle Gould chipped in three.

Anthony Reinhardt recorded 10 saves in goal for DePauw, while Chase Singleton had six stops for Wittenberg.

Matthew Roman won 13-of-21 faceoffs and had nine ground balls, while Matthew Garrigan caused four turnovers.

Charlie Frederick had five ground balls for Wittenberg with Ethan Amidon and Gould finishing with three caused turnovers each.

Wittenberg outshot DePauw, 34-26, including 22-14 in shots on goal.  DePauw committed 28 turnovers to Wittenberg's 21, but DePauw had a 38-26 edge in ground balls.

DePauw returns to action on Sunday, April 14, with a 1 p.m. game at Denison.
