DePauw Blanks Wabash in Nightcap to Earn NCAC Split

Greencastle, Ind. - After dropping the opening game of its North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against visiting Wabash by an 8-1 score, DePauw rebounded for an 8-0 victory in game two. The Tigers moved to 12-9 overall and 3-1 in the NCAC, while the Little Giants dropped to 11-12 overall and 1-3 conference play.

Wabash's Reece Bauer opened the first game with a leadoff homer and AJ Reid hit a solo shot in the third for a 2-0 lead.

DePauw got on the board in the sixth as Hunter Hrbek singled home Cameron Macon.

Reid's bases loaded walk in the seventh extended the Little Giants lead to 3-1 before the visitors blew the game open in the ninth. Bauer's single brought home Michael Galanos and Reid hammered a grand slam for the game's final runs.

Danny Glimco and Ty Sucher each had two of DePauw's five hits, while Bauer, Reed, Galanos and Kamden Earley each had two of Wabash's 12 hits.

Nate Tencza dropped to 2-3 after going 6.0 innings and allowing just two runs with four strikeouts and no walks. Caleb Everson improved to 4-2 and Dylan Haslett notched his second save.

Glimco gave DePauw its first lead of the day with a fourth-inning, two-run homer. Max Bond's single in the fifth scored Hrbek and Sucher lifted a sacrifice fly that brought home Cameron Macon. Carter Knoll's single plated Bond and made it 5-0.

The Tigers added two more in the seventh on Hrbek's double the scored Knoll before Hrbek scored when Macon reached on an error. Bond wrapped up the scoring in the eighth after scoring on a wild pitch.

Hrbek had two of DePauw's eight hits, while three different Wabash players collected one each.

Griffin Albright improved to 3-1after allowing just one hit in five innings before Jake Thometz and Josh Heitert each pitched two innings of scoreless relief. Robbie Manuzzi dropped to 2-1.

Tomorrow's DePauw game against Franklin is postponed and will be played as part of an April 28 doubleheader at Franklin. The Tigers' next action is on Saturday, April 13, when they host Ohio Wesleyan at Noon.
