Bloomington, Ill. - Bailey Turner's three-run, walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh lifted Illinois Wesleyan to a 9-6 win over DePauw in the final game of the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament. DePauw dropped to 10-11-1, while the Titans improved to 13-6.
Katie Mathies' grounder in the third scored
Kelsey Bernhard and gave DePauw a 1-0 lead, but it was short-lived as Casey Wissmiller's grand slam homer in the bottom of the third put the Titans in front, 4-1.
Alyssa Anderson's fourth-inning double brought home
Ella Kuenster and Bernhard before
Emily Timberman's solo homer in the fifth evened the score at 4-4.
The Titans responded with two in the bottom of the fifth as Jen Kuhn's single plated Wissmiller and Ava Khoury's double scored Kuhn.
DePauw again tied the contest in the sixth as Anderson drove in
Riley Heim and
Goose Moore with a single.
Wissmiller led off the Illinois Wesleyan seventh with a single and moved to third on Kuhn's single before Turner hit the game-winning three-run shot.
Anderson had three of DePauw's nine hits and drove in four runs. Wissmiller and Kuhn each had two of Illinois Wesleyan's eight hits.Â
Riley Depa dropped to 0-4, while Gianna Certa improved to 6-2.
DePauw opens North Coast Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, April 10, with a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Ohio Wesleyan.
