Tigers Hold off Yeomen in 5-4 Conference Win

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw men's tennis team held off Oberlin College at home, beating the Yeomen 5-4 for its first conference win of the season. The Tigers improved to 8-6 for the season and 1-0 in conference play, while the Yeomen dropped to 5-7 overall and 0-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference play.
 
DePauw got on the board first after Hudson Mosher and Chase Hutchinson defeated Ben Tichauer and James Foster 8-4 on court three. Oberlin would tie the match up at one apiece after Rohan Gold and Zain Makada beat Ryan McCook and Wils Warren 8-3 on court two. The Tigers regained the lead when Finley Buelte and Teagen Crow defeated the Yeomen's Shawn Lisann and Sebastien Naginski 8-7 after winning the tiebreaker 7-5.
 
Up 2-1 heading into singles play, the Tigers' Grayson Zylstra helped DePauw pull ahead after defeating Oberlin's James Foster 6-1, 6-1 on court six. Ryan McCook would give the Tigers a 4-1 lead after beating Zain Makada 6-2, 6-0 on court three. The Yeomen would take the next two matches to cut DePauw's lead to just one. On court two, Samuele Pia fell to Shawn Lisann 6-3, 6-2; on court four, Oberlin's Sebastien Naginski defeated Jake Louiselle 6-4, 6-4. On court five, Scott Anderson would clinch the win for the Tigers after beating Ben Tichauer 6-1, 1-6, 6-4. The Yeomen's final victory of the afternoon came on court one when Roahn Gold defeated Finley Buelte 7-5, 1-6, 6-4. 
 
The Tigers' next match is Sunday, April 7, against the College of Wooster at 12 p.m.
