Franklin, Ind. - DePauw moved to 20-13 on the season following a doubleheader split at Franklin as the Tigers won the opener, 14-7, and dropped the nightcap, 10-9. Franklin is now 18-17.
In the opener, Franklin took a 1-0 lead in the first before DePauw responded with a three-run second. The Grizzlies regained the lead with five runs in the second, but DePauw scored three in the fourth and four each in the fifth and sixth frames.
Louis Florida,
Cameron Macon,
Grady Johnson,
Carter Knoll and
Aidan Howard each had two of DePauw's 14 hits. Garrett DeHart had two of Franklin's six hits.
Johnny Curry improved to 2-0, while Mason Campbell dropped to 1-1.
In the nightcap, Franklin again took a first-inning lead with two runs before DePauw responded with three in the second and two in the third. The Tigers had a 9-3 lead in the fifth, but the hosts rallied for two in the fifth and five in the sixth for the win.
Knoll had three of the Tigers' 12 hits with Florida,
Max Bond and
Brennan Roach each totaling two. Macon and
Danny Glimco homered for DePauw.
AJ Sanders, Tysen Lipscomb, DeHart and Dyllan Redmon each had two of Franklin's 11 hits.
Matthew Spencer dropped to 0-1, while Troy Smith improved to 1-0.
DePauw travels to Wittenberg on Tuesday, April 30, for a Noon North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader.
