Springfield, Ohio - Wittenberg held a 2-1 lead early in the second period, but DePauw scored the next nine on the way to a 14-4 North Coast Athletic Conference road win. DePauw improved to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg dropped to 6-10 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
Caleigh Claar gave DePauw a 1-0 lead just 3:35 into the contest before Wittenberg scored with 3:43 left in the first and 2:56 into the second.
The Tigers responded as
Emily Napier and
Maggie Little scored within 21 seconds of one another to give DePauw the lead for good. DePauw held a 9-2 edge at the half as
Bridget Driscoll beat the buzzer. The Tigers outscored the hosts, 5-2 over the final 30 minutes.
Claar, Driscoll and Napier each scored three for DePauw with
Marley Heitman adding a pair. Driscoll and
Graesen Campbell each assisted on two. Four different Wittenberg players scored one goal apiece.
Lydia Hollis recorded 10 saves in goal for DePauw, while
Stefanie Weyhmueller totaled two. Sidney Sheridan had nine saves for Wittenberg and Gabrielle Weckerly finished with seven.
Driscoll led DePauw with eight draw controls, six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Jessica Flick totaled three draw controls for Wittenberg, while Zoe Chirumbolo McKee had five ground balls and caused five turnovers. Ebony Wyse als had five ground balls for the hosts.
DePauw outshot Wittenberg, 38-22, including 30-16 on goal. DePauw led in draw controls, 12-8, and in ground balls, 28-23. The Tigers had 21 turnovers to Wittenberg's 26.
DePauw travels to Kenyon on Saturday, April 27, for a 3 p.m. NCAC game.
