Tigers Extend Win Streak to 10 with Sweep of Wooster

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw rallied in both games of its North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against visiting Wooster and claimed a split of the twinbill by scores of 9-8 and 4-3. The Tigers extended their win streak to 10 and moved to 20-11-1 overall and 8-0 in the NCAC, while Wooster dropped to 14-18 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

In the opener, Wooster took a 3-0 lead in the first on three unearned runs. The Tigers reached the board in the bottom of the frame when Emily Timberman singled home Ella Ohrvall.

Ella Wolff's two-run homer in the second pushed the Fighting Scots' lead to 5-1.

The Tigers closed the gap to 5-4 in the fifth on and RBI single from Katie Mathies and Timberman's two-run base hit.

Tori Conner's bases loaded walk in the sixth extended Wooster's lead to 6-4 before the Tigers took their first lead of the game with a three-run sixth. Ohrvall and Mathies had RBI singles and Timberman lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 7-6.

Wooster scored a pair in the seventh on a DePauw error, but the Tigers won the game in the seventh as Goose Moore singled home Riley Heim and then got in a rundown which allowed Angelese Cruz to beat the throw to the plate.

Moore, Ohrvall, Mathies and Timberman each had three of DePauw's 15 hits, while Wolff had four of Wooster's nine and Julia Jennings added two.

Riley Depa improved to 6-4 after entering in the seventh, while Lynnsey Delio dropped to 4-6.

In the nightcap, DePauw gained the first-inning lead after Moore stole third and came home on a throwing error on the play.

Wooster's Madi Yankauskas evened the score in the fourth with a sacrifice fly before the Fighting Scots took the lead in the fifth with a pair of runs.

The Tigers regained the lead in the fifth as Ella Kunester's bunt scored Macey Cox before Madi Lockridge singled home Moore and Libby Minobe singled home Kelsey Bernhard.

Bernhard and Timberman each had two of DePauw's nine hits, while Emma Hetkey had three of Wooster's nine hits with Cate Barkdoll and Wolff contributing two apiece.

Depa moved to 7-4, while Delio dropped to 4-7.

I chose DePauw because it stood out compared to all of the other campuses I went to. Between the people, the campus, the softball program and the community, it just felt like home. I knew after the first time I came to campus for a softball camp that DePauw was the one.
