DePauw Shutout by #5 Denison in Final Regular Season NCAC Match

Granville, Ohio- The DePauw men's tennis team fell 9-0 to No.5 Denison University on the road. The Tigers dropped to 12-8 for the season and 5-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference play, while the Big Red improved to 15-4 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
 
From the jump, Denison dominated, sweeping all three courts in doubles play. On court two, the Big Red's Jacob Patterson and Andy Mackler defeated Ryan McCook and Wils Warren 8-0 to put Denison up 1-0. The Tigers would suffer its second doubles loss on court one when the Big Red's Ethan Green and Kael Shah beat Teagen Crow and Finley Buelte 8-3. Denison would go up 3-0 after Tomer Ozmo and Colin Gramley defeated Chase Hutchinson and Hudson Mosher 8-6 on court three.
 
The Big Red kept its momentum in singles play, ultimately sweeping singles play for a 9-0 shutout. On court three, Ethan Green gave Denison a 4-0 lead after beating Ryan McCook 6-1, 6-2. The Big Red's Colin Gramley would clinch the victory for his team after defeating Scott Anderson 6-1, 6-4 on court five. Denison's Andy Mackler beat DePauw's Jake Louiselle 6-2, 6-0 on court four, and Zachary Portnoy beat Grayson Zylstra 6-1, 6-0 on court six.
 
The final two matches were back and forth, with Denison keeping the Tigers comeback at bay. On court one, Finley Buelte fell to Kael Shah 2-6, 7-6 (7-3), 0-1 (0-10) , and on court two, the Big Red's Jacob Patterson beat DePauw's Samuele Pia 6-2, 7-5.
 
This weekend's matches wrapped up regular season play for the Tigers, with DePauw in third place heading into the NCAC Tennis Tournament. The Tigers will return to Granville, Ohio, for the conference tournament on Friday, April 26.
