Greencastle, Ind. - Kenyon scored the game's first four goals and the final four on the way to a 16-8 North Coast Athletic Conference win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 8-7 overall and 2-5 in the NCAC, while the Owls improved to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Kenyon led 4-0 after the first period, 6-2 at the half and eventually gained its largest advantage at 9-2. The Tigers were within four scores on three occasions before the Owls finished with four straight.
Gavin Berry and
Jack Neff each scored two for the Tigers, while
Jack Flynn assisted on a pair.
Connor Gibson's goal with 17 seconds left in the third was the 98th of his career which broke the program record held by Steen Jorgensen (2015-19). It also was his 34th of the season which tied the DePauw single-season mark held by Will Roberts (2021) and Andrew Wright (2015).
Mike Kapral scored five for the Owls, while David Chintala and Tanner Lewis finished with three apiece. Jack McCaren had two assists for Kenyon.
Anthony Reinhardt totaled 15 saves in goal for DePauw with Adam Hall stopping 11 shots for Kenyon.
Matthew Garrigan and Reinhardt each had five ground balls for DePauw and Garrigan caused seven turnovers to tie DePauw's single-game record which he and Donny Bleifuss also hold.
Thomas Nelson paced Kenyon with seven ground balls and won 14-of-17 faceoffs with Colin Williams following with six ground balls. Joe Sikora had three caused turnovers for the Owls.
Kenyon held a 46-33 shots advantage including 31-19 on goal. The Owls led in ground balls, 48-27, and won 21 of the 27 faceoffs. DePauw committed 18 turnovers to Kenyon's 23.
DePauw wraps up the season on Saturday, April 27 with a 1 p.m. game against Oberlin.
