Franklin, Ind. - DePauw pounded out 24 hits on the way to a doubleheader sweep at Franklin by scores of 8-0 and 6-4 with the second game going eight innings. The Tigers improved to 16-11-1, while the Grizzlies dropped to 19-7
In the opener, DePauw grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second on a pair of unearned runs before
Alyssa Anderson hit a three-run homer in the third.
Ella Kuenster's single in the sixth scored
Macey Cox and Cox drove in
Libby Minobe and
Katie Mathies with a seventh-inning base hit.
Emily DuMais and Cox each had three of DePauw's 14 hits, while
Madi Lockridge followed with two. Eriana Wagner had two of Franklin's six hits.
Josi Hair improved to 2-2 with the complete game shutout, while Lauren Duncan dropped to 9-3.
Emily Timberman's single in the first inning of the nightcap scored
Ella Ohrvall and gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Callie Rheinheimer scored on a steal of home in the fourth and
Caitlyn Summers made it 3-0 with a single that brought home
Angelese Cruz.
Franklin trimmed the lead to 3-2 in the sixth as Kennedy Bond drove in Molly Wallace with a double and Stephanni.Kleber scored Kaylee Rhoton with a single.
Timberman extended DePauw's lead to 4-2 in the seventh with a sacrifice fly that scored Minobe.
Bond's two-out double in the bottom of the seventh scored Hadley Fuhran and Belle Neiling and sent the game to extra innings.
The tiebreaker rule was used in the eighth and
Riley Heim was placed on second.
Kelsey Bernhard reached on an error of a sacrifice bunt which allowed Heim to score with Bernhard advancing to second. Rheinheimer's bunt moved Bernhard to third and
Kiwi Moran reached on a sacrifice bunt that plated Bernhard.
Franklin loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the eighth, but the Tigers got a force out at the plate and a line out to end the game.
Ohrvall led DePauw with three of DePauw's 10 hits, while Bond and Kleber each had two of the Grizzlies' seven hits.
Riley Depa improved to 4-4, while Kelber dropped to 5-3.
DePauw hosts Oberlin on Saturday, April 20, in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
