Delaware, Ohio - DePauw scored the game's first goal in the opening three minutes, but Ohio Wesleyan converted the next six on the way to a 14-6 North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Tigers. DePauw dropped to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC, while the Battling Bishops improved to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Emily Napier put the Tigers in front with an unassisted score with 12:26 remaining in the opening period before Ohio Wesleyan scored five in a 3:11 span to grab a 5-1 lead. The Battling Bishops pushed the lead to 6-1 early in the second and the Tigers were within four, 7-3, at the intermission. The hosts put the game away in the third with four goals in the opening 6:28.
Napier finished with three goals, while
Bridget Driscoll led the Tigers with seven draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Lydia Hollis recorded nine saves in goal for the Tigers.
Nicole Klabus and Sophia DelGallo each had four goals for Ohio Wesleyan with Caroline Fleming adding three. Fleming and Sam Frary each assisted on three goals. Abbie Grogan led the Battling Bishops with five draw controls, while Abby Markowitz had four ground balls with Tiffany Trinh and Sammy Johnson each finishing with two caused turnovers. Markowitz stopped seven shots in goal for the Battling Bishops.
Ohio Wesleyan held a 31-17 advantage in shots including 23-13 in shots on goal. DePauw totaled 19 turnovers to the Battling Bishops' 16 with Ohio Wesleyan holding a 20-14 edge in ground balls. The hosts also led in draw controls, 15-9.
DePauw hosts Denison on Tuesday, April 16, at 6 p.m.
