Decatur, Ill. - After opening with an 11-9 extra-inning loss to Grinnell, DePauw rebounded with a 7-2 victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point at the Millikin Tournament. The Tigers are now 2-5 following the split.

In the Grinnell game, DePauw took a 2-0 lead in the first as Ella Kuenster drove in Kelsey Bernhard with a double and Macey Cox brought home Kuenster after drawing a bases loaded walk.

After the Pioneers scored three in the top of the second to take the lead, DePauw regained the advantage with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame. Riley Heim scored on an error on Goose Moore's single. Kuenster's bunt single later in the inning scored Moore.

The Tigers extended the lead to 6-3 in the third as Heim's sacrifice bunt brought home Cox and Heim scored when Moore reached on a fielder's choice.

Grinnell came back with three each in the fifth and sixth to take a 9-6 lead. Emily Timberman singled with two outs in the DePauw sixth and pinch-runner Hanna Coffel scored when pinch-hitter Libby Minobe tripled to right center. After Cox walked and stole second, Paige Brady drove in both with a triple to tie the score at 9-9.

A scoreless seventh followed before Grinnell took the lead on Taylor Durak's run-scoring single before the Pioneers added an insurance run when Emma DiGiacomo-Zahller reached on a fielder's choice that scored Alexa Okada. DePauw was retired in order in the bottom of the eighth.

Moore and Kuenster each had two of DePauw's seven hits, while Durak led Grinnell with four of its nine hits and Kyra Killion followed with two.

Riley Depa dropped to 0-2 with the loss, while Emma Trani improved to 2-0. Grinnell moved to 3-5 with the win.

Against Wis.-Stevens Point, the Tigers grabbed a 4-0 lead in the fourth as Katie Mathies scored Ella Ohrvall with a bunt single before Madi Lockridge drove in Timberman and Emily DuMais with a triple. Alyssa Anderson's double brought home Lockridge.

Mathies' double in the fifth scored Ohrvall before Timberman delivered a two-run homer to make it 7-0.

The Pointers reached the scoreboard with two in the sixth.

I chose DePauw because it stood out compared to all of the other campuses I went to. Between the people, the campus, the softball program and the community, it just felt like home. I knew after the first time I came to campus for a softball camp that DePauw was the one.
