Tigers Sweep Sunday Games at Millikin Tournament

Decatur, Ill. - DePauw extended its win streak to three and moved to 4-5 on the season following a 6-4 win over Wis.-Stevens Point and a 5-4 walkoff victory over 22nd-ranked Millikin at the Millikin Tournament.

Against Stevens Point, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first as Katie Mathies' bunt scored Libby Minobe. DePauw made it 2-0 in the fourth as Emily Timberman reached on an error with Mathies scoring on the play.

The Pointers tied the game in the fifth on Jesse Klicker's two-run double, but Kelsey Bernhard's two-run single in the sixth and Mathies' two-run double in the seventh gave the Tigers a 6-2 advantage.

Stevens Point closed the gap in the seventh on an RBI triple from Kaitlyn Roberts and Sara Traxel's run-scoring single but the Tigers held on for the win.

Macey Cox and Mathies each had two of DePauw;s 10 hits, while five different Pointers collected one hit apiece.

Josi Hair moved to 1-0 with the win, while Elli Matzke took the loss.

In the win over Millikin, Goose Moore scored on a wild pitch in the first before Millikin tied the game in the second as Ava Zukowski singled home Kailyn Coates.

Ashtyn Barnett's single in the fifth brought home Ella Ohrvall and Riley Heim and gave the Tigers a 3-1 advantage.

Millikin closed the deficit to 3-2 in the sixth when Coates' bunt scored Charley Condill.

Ohrvall's sixth-inning single plated Timberman and gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead, but it was short-lived as Millikin scored in the seventh when Leah Foreman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Maddy Regan hit a sacrifice fly that scored Rylee Blake.

Kelsey Bernhard drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh and moved to second on Minobe's sacrifice bunt before Moore delivered the game-winning single to left.

Ohrvall had two of DePauw's seven hits, while Zukowski had two of Millikin's nine.

Alex Romero-Salas imprved to 3-2 with the complete game win, while Kelsey Bruno dropped to 0-1

I chose DePauw because I was able to continue my athletic career at a very competitive D3 school. The atmosphere and education at DePauw is also incredible and I wanted to be a part of it.

I chose DePauw because it stood out compared to all of the other campuses I went to. Between the people, the campus, the softball program and the community, it just felt like home. I knew after the first time I came to campus for a softball camp that DePauw was the one.
